Humble Bumble - Picture Book Concept
The Humble Bumble Trilogy - a co-author passion project written by Anna Roberts & illustrated by Rhi Sanderson
We have an ambitious vision for Humble Bumble, we feel Humble’s adventures are important to raise awareness of all things bumblebee due to the rapid decline of bumblebees and extinction of many species all over the world.
Humble Bumble at its heart is a trilogy of picture books, but our ambition is for Humble to be a mainstream household name through different formats of an animated series or app game etc.
Book 1: Humble Bumble
This picture book introduces Humble Bumble; a curious, adventurous and humble bumblebee. Humble Bumble is inspired by her friend to go on an adventure outside the garden walls. On her travels she meets a host of insects who mistake her for a honeybee and learns about different environments, as well as herself .
The book focuses upon the important job that bumblebees do carrying pollen from one plant to another. It also highlights the difference between honeybees and bumblebees and touches on the themes of identity and self esteem.
Book 2: Humble Bumble and Bombus
Developing the themes in the first book, this story centres on the friendship of two bumblebees who both learn lessons from each other’s differences. Bombus is a timid bumblebee who takes strength from Humble Bumble’s confident nature. Likewise, Humble Bumble learns not to be so reckless and discovers Bombus’ practical problem solving instinct.
The book also considers ways in which children/adults can help a bumblebee in difficulty.
A non fiction picturebook companion to the Humble Bumble series all about bumblebees.
Filled with bumblebee facts and activities in an interactive style from the viewpoint of Professor Bombus.
Featuring many of the characters from the Humble Bumble series, Bombus guides the reader through the plight of the bumblebee.
