Ada Bell the Curious Explorer - One Third Stories
Ada Bell’s favourite book is about the dodo, a bird that has not been seen for hundreds of years. But Ada is a curious explorer and doesn’t let this stop her from hopping into her hot-air balloon and going on her greatest adventure: to find the dodo herself!

I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Anna Roberts on bringing her story Ada Bell the Curious Explorer to life.
You can meet Ada in book nine of One Third Stories brilliant subscription box initiative to deliver language learning books and activities for kids.
I was so thrilled to be illustrating this inquisitive character that was curious about the world around her.
Ada Bell was not just an amalgamation by name, but an inspiration of Gertrude Bell’s determination for adventure and Ada Lovelace’s studious personality.
Longer than the conventional 12 double page spread picture book, Ada Bell the Curious Explorer boasts 15 double page spreads (20 including the cover, end papers, title page, and glossary!)
It was a blast living in her world visualising her adventure everyday for a couple of months while creating this book.
I've never worked on such a big project in such a short amount of time and would love to work on more projects like this.
Ada Bell will always have special place in my heart - I hope Anna and I can dream up some more adventures for Ada soon!
